WHEELERS HILL, VICTORIA

The Pavilion is centered around creating a versatile and inclusive space that enhances the lives and experiences of students, teachers/staff, and the wider school community. It features purpose-built areas for athlete training, rehabilitation, classroom instruction, spectatorship, coaching facilities, and celebratory gatherings, thereby establishing itself as a vibrant center for a diverse array of activities.

The project was inspired by the need to seamlessly integrate the building into the hillside without disrupting the existing ridge line next to the sports and aquatics center. This influenced the site placement, materials, and design details, allowing the Pavilion to blend into the landscape while providing views of the Main Oval. The design offers sheltered, uninterrupted views of the Main Oval along the entire length of the building, providing comfort for sports spectators throughout the year. The expansive vista also provides a stunning setting for social gatherings and events. The comprehensive approach ensures that the space not only meets its functional requirements but also enhances the surrounding environment
